iTapeStore's pre-cut coins are made by die cutting genuine VELCRO® Brand hook and loop tape laminated with acrylic 72 adhesive. Available sizes: 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1 3/8" diameters to accommodate all sizes of tags or panels.
Standard features:
- Materials: Hook 88 (bristly side) and Loop 1000 (soft side) nylon fasteners.
- Adhesive: Acrylic 72 high temperature pressure sensitive adhesive with excellent UV, moisture and solvent resistance.
- Operating temperature range: Usually -20°F to 225°F, so suitable for many exposed applications where heat build up is common.
- Available colours: Black or white coins, hook and loop sold separately unless noted.
Substrate and surface energy considerations:
Ideally suited to high surface energy substrates including stainless steel, aluminium, glass, painted metals, rigid PVC, epoxy and urethane coatings, providing the adhesive is able to wet out completely and reach maximum shear strength.
We do not recommend using this adhesive on many low surface energy plastics including polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, Teflon and certain powder coats unless a suitable primer or different 19 adhesive system is chosen.
Exact shear and tensile strength will vary by substrate and surface prep, so we do recommend testing your particular assembly, particularly for load bearing or safety critical applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these pre-cut coins removable?
VELCRO® Brand coins are designed for long term fastening, not as temporary repositionable dots. The hook and loop side is fully reusable, however the acrylic adhesive is high bond. On many substrates you can remove the coin with careful peeling, but some adhesive residue or surface damage is possible, especially on delicate finishes. Always test first on a hidden area.
Will these coins stick to powder coated or painted metal?
In many cases, yes. Acrylic 72 adhesive performs well on high surface energy painted and powder coated metals when properly cleaned and degreased. For very slick or low energy coatings, a primer or alternative 19 adhesive system may provide better wet out and cure. If powder coat performance is critical, contact us with coating details for a recommendation.
Can I use these outdoors or in higher temperature environments?
These pre-cut coins are produced with a high temperature acrylic adhesive that will generally work from about -20°F to about 225°F, with good UV and moisture resistance in many outdoor or semi-exposed applications. For constant exposure to high heat, UV or chemicals, testing in your application or consulting with us is recommended.
Do I have to buy full rolls or large case quantities?
No. Flexibility is one of the advantages of purchasing from iTapeStore. You can specify smaller quantities of coins for smaller production runs or prototyping and still take advantage of volume discounts as your production needs increase. You are not required to purchase full manufacturer rolls of these converted coins, which keeps your inventory lean and your project costs under control.
