3M™ Dual Lock™ SJ3552 has mushroom shaped heads that snap together. This product comes UNMATED (10 yards ordered = 5 yards of fastened material).  Choosing the right Dual Lock™ depends on the application. In addition to matching the thickness requirement (standard or low profile) you’ll want to consider the holding power needed. 

Holding power a factor of both the “stem” count and the adhesive backing:

• The numbers in the description refer to the number of mushrooms, or what 3M calls "stems," per square inch: Type 170 has 170 stems per square inch, Type 250 has 250 stems per square inch, and so on. More stems mean a tighter grip.   

• VHB™ or “very high bond” is an acrylic adhesive for applications requiring a more secure bond. The adhesive backing varies between product options.

This product is a "Type 170" which means it has approximately 170 stems per square inch. It will "mate" to Type 250 and Type 400 Dual Lock and is not recommended to mate to itself or any other Type 170 Dual Lock material. 

SJ3552 is identified by black stems with a plain white adhesive backing. The adhesive is acrylic that should stick to most plastics has a wide temperature range which makes it a good choice to use outdoors. If you require these similar characteristics in clear or with extra UV resistance, SJ3562 in the related items below is also an option.
